A total expense reduction plan

Article Abstract:

Several strategies for helping hospitals to control salary and nonsalary expenses are outlined. To reduce compensation costs, steps include the creation of a productivity reporting system and part-time positions as well as forestalling the replacement of middle management positions. Likewise, signature controls, review of current policies and practices as well as cost awareness education are guaranteed to minimize nonsalary expenditures.

Tomorrow's materiel management executive today

Article Abstract:

Materials management professionals need not follow a singular approach to addressing the challenges brought about by health care reform. All they need to do is to educate themselves on market trends, their hospital's needs and alternative solutions, and apply common sense to the decisions they make. In addition, they must take a leadership role and expand their functions beyond the traditional purchasing of supplies.
