A second look at a dead deal

Article Abstract:

Ashtabula County Medical Center merged with the Ashtabula Clinic doctors group the second time the two organizations sought to combine. The center and clinic failed to merge in 1992 when each party retained lawyers early in the process. When discussions began again in 1996, the organizations established goals and roles before bringing in separate legal counsel. The deal has enabled the clinic to expand its staff and services.
