Educating employees about AIDS

Article Abstract:

Acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS) education and policy in the workplace is becoming a necessity as more companies realize that AIDS may have an effect on employee productivity. Guidelines for developing education programs include: training of management; determining relevant data to be included in programs; and establishing community support. AIDS-related employee policy should address legal implications, medical implications, and employee benefits. Firms interested in implementing education programs should consider: bringing trained educators or speakers into the workplace; showing education videotapes; distributing printed materials; and encouraging discussion groups.

The effects of short-term variation in abortion funding on pregnancy outcomes

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to analyze the influence of short-term variation in abortion funding on pregnancy outcomes using a novel detailed dataset. The study also examined the effects on pregnancy outcomes of the eligibility for Medicaid to women with higher incomes in states where Medicaid is utilized to fund abortions. Results indicated that the unavailability of state funds for abortion enticed women to bear unwanted children, especially among black women age 18 and up.

Out with the in-tray

Article Abstract:

With the advent of computers, many assumed the paperwork in offices would be reduced, but the opposite is in fact happening. The first move toward reducing paperwork is to conduct a survey, and once the information is collated, a process of reduction can be planned. Two stages are involved to achieve the goal: the first is to cut down the volume received, and the second is to efficiently deal with important items.
