Article Abstract:

The US health care system is in need of reform, but its basic system is solid with competent professionals, excellent technology and a reasonably stable economy. An examination of the Commonwealth of Independent States' health care system reveals a massive, complex system that lacks managerial training, technology, supplies and money. However, the system does provide universal access, potential for preventative care and professionalism. The US should consider all these factors when formulating its own health care reforms.

CIOs and the D.R.I.P. syndrome

Article Abstract:

The health care industry is beginning to realize the growing importance of health care information management. However, there must be a shift in focus from the technology to the data itself. Health care chief information officers must avoid creating a data-rich but information-poor organization.
