The measurement of individual utility and social welfare

Article Abstract:

An alternative approach to the person trade-off technique is formulated to address the issue concerning the effectiveness of cost per quality-adjusted life-years (QALYs). The approach is seen to maximize QALY's use in giving relevant information regarding allocation of scarce health care resources through consideration of individual utility and health-related social welfare function. It also entails questioning in relation to health gain.
