A RhoA-derived peptide inhibits syncytium formation induced by respiratory syncytial virus and parainfluenza virus type 3

Article Abstract:

Research presented concerns the physiological aspects of infections with human respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) and human parainfluenza virus type-3 (PIV-3). Topics addressed include proteins that mediate virus entry, and the effects of RhoA peptides on syncytium formation induced by RSV.

Functional conservation of the malaria vaccine antigen MSP-1[sub]19 across distantly related Plasmodium species

Article Abstract:

Research presented concerns the physiological aspects of Plasmodium falciparum merozoite surface protein 1 (MSP-1[sub]19), a potential malaria vaccine candidate. Topics addressed include the function of MSP-1[sub]19 across species, and the parasite's invasion of red blood cells.

Isolation of primary HIV-1 that target CD8+ T lymphocytes using CD8 as a receptor

Article Abstract:

Research presented concerns the pathogenesis of HIV-1, focusing on how the virus may enter the T cells through the CD8 receptor. The physiological aspects of HIV-1 infection in CD4+ cells and CD8+ T lymphocytes are detailed.
