Type 5 phosphodiesterase regulation of human sperm motility

Article Abstract:

Type 5 phosphodiesterase appears to prevent premature acrosome activation in sperm. When sperm cells were exposed to the drug Viagra, which inhibits this enzyme, premature acrosome activation occurred.

A comparison of heat-induced hyperactivation in patients' sperm after colloid or pentoxifylline wash methods

Article Abstract:

Sperm cells that are heated to a temperature of 100 degrees F. become more active. For this reason, heated sperm samples may be used for in vitro fertilization.

Human sperm deoxyribonucleic acid fragmentation by specific types of papillomavirus

Article Abstract:

The human papillomavirus can adversely affect sperm, causing breaks in the DNA. This in turn could affect the development of the embryo.
