A healing regime

Article Abstract:

Treating pressure sores costs over 300 million pounds sterling per year in the UK alone. A survey has revealed that 15% of pressure sores are already present on admission into hospital, while 70% appear within 2 weeks of admission. More than 90% of pressure sores are located in the lower part of the body. A case study of a 94-year-old widow with several pressure sores on her lower body is included.

Treating postural hypotension

Article Abstract:

Postural hypotension (PH) is a relatively common condition in older people, and many commonly used drugs can exacerbate it. It is linked to a variety of conditions and can be transient or long-term. Treatment involves diagnosing and treating the underlying cause, and avoidance of the factors that exacerbate symptoms. Nurses have an important role to play in educating patients and offering advice.
