A healthy living centre in the community

Article Abstract:

The Bromley-by Bow Centre, London, UK, is an example of a healthy living centre, which aims to help people overcome reasons for poor health and not just deal with curing physical symptoms. The 1.4 million pounds sterling centre was established in 1984 in a deprived area of high unemployment and low living standards. Health initiatives have included encouraging consumption of fresh fruit, introducing art and self-help classes and helping people with parenting skills.
