A long time coming

Article Abstract:

Wrongful diagnosis and inappropriate initial treatment can have a harmful and lasting affect on the rehabilitation of patients with multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR TB). Isolation therapy is an important part of treating MDR TB suffers as it prevents the threat of spreading the disease to others while reducing the risk of further infection for the patient. Nurses should help isolation patients to avoid feelings of depression and confusion by maintaining a good level of communication.
