A novel amniocentesis model for learning stereotactic skills

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to develop a lifelike amniocentesis model to allow effective acquisition of the stereotactic skills necessary and comfort level with the procedure. The results concluded that a low-cost novel model provides realistic tissue resistance and yields a sonographically accurate amniocentesis-training tool, while the use of the model permits resident instruction in a nonthreatening environment.
