A novel approach to intertriplet birth weight discordance

Article Abstract:

Many triplets will have different body weights, according to a study of 2,804 triplet pregnancies. Nineteen percent of the triplets had body weight discrepancies of 25% to 35% and nine percent had body weight discrepancies of greater than 35%. The discrepancy was calculated using the difference between the lightest baby and the heaviest baby.

Neonatal mortality rates among growth-discordant twins, classified according to the birth weight of the smaller twin

Article Abstract:

A study on neonatal mortality rates among growth-discordant twins led to the conclusion that severely discordant twin pairs in whom the smaller twin is also small for gestational age are at an increased risk of neonatal death. Identification of this group is an imperative step in the management of birth weight discordance in twin gestations.
