A project to promote health awareness among firefighters

Article Abstract:

Firefighting is a hazardous job and it affects health both physically and psychosocially. Fighting Fit is a collaborative project run by the Cheshire Fire Service, Warrington Primary Care Trust and the firefighters themselves based on a model designed for use with local amateur footballers and rugby players called Tackling Health, it uses an internal competition that aims to convey a serious health message in an informal and fun way.

Raising awareness of Raynaud's phenomenon and scleroderma

Article Abstract:

The 2005 Raynaud's and scleroderma awareness campaign aims to highlight Raynaud's phenomenon, a common episodic circulatory disorder, and also increase the detection rates. The treatment for systematic sclerosis, which is the sub-type of scleroderma, includes mobility drugs to help with difficult swallowing, antibiotics to help control bacterial overgrowth in the bowel and so on.
