Tort crisis limits hospital services

Article Abstract:

Tort has led to medical liability crisis that led to closing of trauma centers or diverting patients to other hospitals because they are experiencing a physician shortage. A survey conducted by the American Medical Association in 18 states of America revealed that about 53.1% of more than 1,000 hospitals are in the middle of a medical liability crisis.

Physicians feel double-digit pain

Article Abstract:

The US internists, general surgeons and obstetrician gynecologists saw a double-digit insurance rate rise of 10 percent to 49 percent between 2002 and 2003. The physicians stated that in addition to the rising insurance rates, discounts that were offered for risk management were decreasing.
