AIDS in 2006: Moving toward one world, one hope?

Article Abstract:

The International AIDS Society is hosting the meeting in Toronto from August 13 to August 18, 2006, and with an aim to continue their main theme as 'One World, One Hope'. The global AIDS policies at the World Health Organization in Geneva are considered and integrated programs are implemented for AIDS prevention and care in places such as rural Haiti and Rwanda.

On the threshold - A diagnosis of exclusion

Article Abstract:

A case of a 48-year-old airline mechanic from Belize with fever and altered mental status that was presented to the emergency department is discussed. Giving him required treatment of tuberculosis even though his diagnostic test showed negative results saved patient's life.

The major infectious diseases in the world -- to treat or not to treat?

Article Abstract:

It is possible to treat patients with drug-resistant tuberculosis effectively as long as there is a public health infrastructure to support that treatment. This may not be available in many developing countries, which could explain why many patients are not treated.
