Adjusting and censoring electronic monitoring device data: Implications for study outcomes

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to illustrate potential pitfall associated with HIV medication adherence measurement technique, including lack of clarity associated with electronic monitoring device (EMD) data, and extent to which adherence outcomes are affected by data management decisions. A checklist was suggested to consider when publishing studies using EMD data, which is based on the concept of the consolidated standards of reporting trials (CONSORT) statement.

Initiation and Evaluation of a Research-Based Fall Prevention Program

Article Abstract:

The effectiveness of research-based interventions in preventing falls was examined in a research project. Falls are a clinical safety issue in many institutions. Among the elderly, falling is a challenging problem leading to potentially serious consequences. Fall occurrence is one of the leading causes of death among older persons. A study revealed that intrinsic and extrinsic factors contribute to the risk of an older person's fall occurrence.

Preliminary data of a prospective study on neuropsychiatric side effects after initiation of efavirenz

Article Abstract:

Some HIV patients who take the drug efavirenz may develop neuropsychiatric symptoms in the first few weeks. However, most patients actually have lower levels of psychological stress after taking the drug for a few months.
