Age patterns in stunting and anaemia in African schoolchildren: a cross-sectional study in Tanzania

Article Abstract:

A new study investigates age patterns in stunting and anaemia in schoolchildren from a rural area of Tanzania. The study of 6,801 children aged between 7 and 18 years shows that stunting and anaemia are very common conditions in African schoolchildren, with boys being more stunted and underweight than girls. Anaemia appears to improve throughout school years for boys but does not improve for girls.

Anaemia among 6 year old children in the United Arab Emirates

Article Abstract:

An epidemiological study on anaemia among six-year old children in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) reports a high prevalence rate. Although the results show a decline in the prevalence rate compared to that during 1981-1995, such a decline is disproportionate to the drastic improvement in the socio-economic status and health care in the UAE during the same time.
