All must share responsibility of working within RBRVS

Article Abstract:

Ophthalmologists and other physicians must accept responsibility for Medicare's need to scale down the payment schedule. When William Hsiao of Harvard prepared a survey on physician payment for the Health Care Financing Administration, members of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the AMA met with Hsiao to modify factors used in determining the relative value payment scale. Physicians expected primary care payments to be increased, but were surprised to find payments to surgeons decreased.
