Arizona county debates effort to privatize health system

Article Abstract:

Arizona's Maricopa County continues to struggle with its plan to privatize its entire public health care system. Opponents and proponents of the privatization plan want to implement their different approaches towards enabling the public health system to more effectively compete in the health care marketplace. The privatization plan for the public health care system, which operates on an annual budget of $650 million, is to convert it into a nonprofit entity and lease the facilities for an annual fee of $12.5 million.
