Bladder cancer: early detection is critical

Article Abstract:

Smoking is the leading cause of bladder cancer, where cancer-causing chemicals collect in the urine, become concentrated and damage the lining of the bladder. Industrial chemicals and chronic bladder inflammation are also contributors to the disease. Blood in the urine may be the first warning sign. Treatment varies depending upon the progression of the disease and include surgery, immunotherapy, chemotherapy and radiation.
