Change-of-shift report is described as a powerful arena of professional socialization and communication for promoting teamwork, staff retention, and patient care. Some important strategies for improving staff relations include implementation of face-to-face report with information sharing, incorporation of guidelines for report information, exploring the way staff members think, promoting listening skills, and starting a rewards program.

Some of these include creating an environment where humor is encouraged, creating an open door policy for employees to voice their ideas and concerns, making sure values and expectations are clear and keeping the environment simple, keep the work area orderly.
