COHSE office claims she was 'hounded out'

Article Abstract:

Rashmi Chopra, an Asian woman and former Confederation of Health Services Employees (COHSE) officer, has claimed that after she accused a fellow worker of sexual and racial harassment she was 'hounded out of her job'. Ms Chopra claims that while the charges were investigated she was put on special leave, while the worker accused of harassment stayed at his post. She claims she has been fighting the case for 17 months, and a settlement was accepted in Apr 1992. Ms Chopra's claims have been denied by COHSE, which said that after investigation it was found that there was no foundation to her allegations.

Midwifery support

Article Abstract:

The controversial issue of admitting health care assistants (HCAs) to the Royal College of Midwives (RCM) will be discussed at the RCM's annual conference in Jul 1992. Those against admitting HCAs believe that the action would affect the professionalism of the RCM, while those in favor believe that if the college allowed the entry of HCAs it would be able have a say in the training and roles of the HCAs.
