Changing times: safety profession is in transition

Article Abstract:

The overall demand for experts in a variety of safety, health and environmental disciplines has not decreased even though safety and health professionals have seen cost-cutting. The factor that has become an issue was about lack of young professionals to take the place of half of the safety and workers who retire by 2010 and it was suggested that a change in the administration would affect the regulations that could create jobs for safety and health professionals.

The outlook for safety professionals in light of tight market conditions and the recession , are examined. The job market for safety professionals is poised for a change. OSHA administrator John Henshaw believes that knowledge of Spanish or any other language besides English will be an added advantage for people seeking jobs in this profession.
