Chemokine-mediated interaction of hematopoietic progenitors with the bone marrow vascular niche is required for thrombopoiesis

Article Abstract:

The molecular pathways involved in the differentiation of hematopoietic progenitors are unknown. Thrombopoietin (TPO) supports progenitors cell expansion, whereas chemokine-mediated interaction of progenitors with the bone marrow vascular allows the progenitors to relocate to a microenvironment that is permissive and instructive for megakaryocyte maturation and thrombopoiesis.

Therapeutic stem and progenitor cell transplantation for organ vascularization and regeneration

Article Abstract:

The bone marrow-derived endothelial, hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells that contribute to tissue vascularization during both embryonic and postnatal physiological processes are suggested. The clinical potential of vascular progenitor and stem cells to restore long-lasting organ vascularization and function are discussed.

Splitting vessels: keeping lymph apart from blood

Article Abstract:

Research reveals that two signaling molecules, the adaptor protein SLP-76 and the tyrosine kinase Syk, expressed in hematopoietic cells are involved in keeping lymphatic and blood vessels anatomically separate during development and tissue revascularization.
