Children versus mosquitos

Article Abstract:

A school near Bridgetown, Barbados has taken the lead in disease control and prevention. Is was decided to integrate health education into all aspects of school curriculum such as teaching the relationship between recycling refuse as a means to prevent mosquito population vectors. School children in turn helped to educate their parents about mosquito control.

A school in Papua New Guinea

Article Abstract:

The primary health promotion goal at a school in Papua New Guinea was to improve the sanitation of toilets. The second was to plant a vegetable and herb garden to supply nutritious food. In addition, the school grounds were improved by tree and flower plantings. Teachers are contributing from their wages to help finance health improvements.

Article Abstract:

The Pan American Health Organization sponsored a school health promotion program in Buenos Aires, Argentina that involved 25 teachers and 500 students. The educators stressed a non-pedagogical approach in which the students were encouraged to incorporate healthy activities into their conduct of life.
