Claims stake a claim on the Internet

Article Abstract:

Physicians have become increasingly likely to file claims electronically because of advances that have been made in claims filing through Internet technology. Although electronic filing benefited payers, agencies, and medical groups, many physicians had resisted electronic filing because of the expense. Claimsnet.com, an Internet claims filing clearinghouse, offers free unlimited claims processing to physicians who have a PC, the proper free software, and an Internet connection.

Book spotlights concerns about prescribing practices

Article Abstract:

Thomas J. Moore's book 'Deadly Medicine' raises concerns about the means by which doctors learn about changing drug-use recommendations. The book examines the use Tambocor, a Class I antiarrhythmic drug. Research demonstrated that use of the drug could be risky for some heart attack victims. Physicians continue to prescribe the drug to such patients, however, despite changed labeling and ample dissemination of information about the danger.
