Clearing the way to mechanisms of autoimmunity

Article Abstract:

The authors discuss the deficits in the apoptotic thymocyte clearance and the increased anti-DNA autoantibody titers discovered in the mice with the Mer tyrosine kinase mutations. These findings made the authors suggest that the impairments in the apoptotic cell clearance could underlie systematic autoimmunity.

In vivo optical mapping of epileptic foci and surround inhibition in ferret cerebral cortex

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on the techniques used to localize epileptiform events in vivo. Results demonstrate that the optical imaging based on intrinsic signals is an excellent method of mapping such epileptiform events such as interictal spikes, ictal onsets and ictal spread in vivo.
