Clinical success of class V composite resin restorations without mechanical retention

Article Abstract:

Class V composite resin restorations can last a fairly long time even in the absence of mechanical means of retaining the filling. Researchers placed 126 Class V composite resin fillings in 23 patients using three different resins and bonding agents: All-Bond 2 dental adhesive and Z100 composite resin, A.R.T. Bond and Brilliant Dentin composite, and Prisma Universal Bond 3 and Variglass VLC polyacid-modified composite resin. Three-year retention rates ranged from 69% in the Z100/All-Bond 2 system to 85% in the Brilliant Dentin/A.R.T. Bond system.

The physical properties of packable and conventional posterior ersin-based composites: a comparison

Article Abstract:

Packable hybrid resin-based composites may be easier for dentists to handle, but their physical properties are no better than those of conventional small-particle hybrid resin-based composites. In addition, the large particles may cause increased wear and roughness.

The suitability of packable resin-based composites for posterior restorations

Article Abstract:

Not all packable composites can be used for deep cavities in posterior restorations. This was the conclusion of dentists who analyzed Solitaire, Surefil, Definite, and Alert packable composite resins.
