Coadministration of lopinavir/ritonavir and phenytoin results in two-way drug interaction through cytochrome P-450 induction

Article Abstract:

The effects of phenytoin (PHT) coadministration on the pharmacokinetics (PK) of lopinavir/ritonavir and also the effects of lopinavir/ritonavir on the PK of PHT, through cytochrome P-450 induction, are determined. Management should be individualized to each patient as the changes in dosage or alterations of antiretroviral or anticonvulsant regimens is necessary.

Deep salvage with amprenavir and lopinavir/ritonavir: correlation of pharmacokinetics and drug resistance with pharmacodynamics

Article Abstract:

Deep salvage therapy using lopinavir/ritonavir with amprenavir is safe and shows partial virologic inhibition and good immunologic efficacy. Pharmacokinetics enhancement of amprenavir with ritonavir shows increase drug levels above the susceptibility threshold of several resistant viral strains as well as allows a reduction of the pill burden.

Association of HIV-1 replication capacity with treatment outcomes in patients with virologic treatment failure

Article Abstract:

The correlation between viral replication capacity (RC) and treatment outcomes is analyzed by studying for up to three years, patients failing antiretroviral therapy enrolled in the Antiretroviral Genotypic Resistance and Patient-reported Adherence (ARGENTA) trial.
