Communication breakdown

Article Abstract:

Nursing and medical jargon hinders communication between health professionals and patients. Academics are largely responsible. However, they may be out of touch with practice as many nurses are alienated by incomprehensible jargon concerning continuing development. Jargon also prevents many patients understanding their illnesses. Education course Project 2000 diplomates should avoid introducing more jargon that will be unintelligible to patients, doctors and traditionally-trained nurses.
