Effect of vaginal pH on efficacy of misoprostol for cervical ripening and labor induction

Article Abstract:

Vaginal pH seems to have no effect on vaginal suppositories containing misoprostol, according to a study of 37 women. Misoprostol is a prostaglandin that is used to induce labor.

Delayed postpartum hemorrhage: a rare presentation of carbon monoxide poisoning

Article Abstract:

Doctors report the first known case of postpartum hemorrhage occurring two weeks after birth that was caused by carbon monoxide poisoning. The 41-year-old woman was treated with 100% oxygen therapy and her uterine bleeding stopped.

Comparative efficacy and cost of the prostaglandin analogs dinoprostone and misoprostol as labor preinduction agents

Article Abstract:

The authors discuss prostaglandin analogs, such as misoprostol, dinoprostone gel and dinoprostone insert as labor preinduction agents. They report that misoprostol is more cost-effective as an adjuvant to labor induction in women with unfavorable cervix.
