Article Abstract:

InterPractice Systems of San Francisco's integrated clinical information system links physicians, patients, administrators and payers through a network and data base. The system allows patients to schedule appointments, communicate with physicians and access a medical library. Physicians can use the system to access medical records and orders for services such as laboratory tests and x-rays. A feature that will allow physicians to access a decision support system based on current practice guidelines is planned for 1992.
