Article Abstract:

Channel 4 television is showing a documentary called 'The Roses of No Man's Land' which reveals the part played by nurses during the First World War. They were usually young, inexperienced, and had only elementary First Aid training, yet they were expected to deal with major trauma with limited supplies, and also drive ambulances from the front lines. Up to 7,000 wounded soldiers could be brought in per day, many of whom died. Nurses comforted these men as best they could. The film is to be shown on April 20, 1997.
