DHEA in elderly women and DHEA or testosterone in elderly men

Article Abstract:

A 2-year, randomized, placebo-controlled, double-blind study is conducted to determine the effects of full dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) replacement and low-dose testosterone replacement on body composition, physical performance, bone mineral density (BMD) and glucose tolerance in elderly people with low androgen levels. The results have shown that neither DHEA nor low-dose testosterone replacement in elderly people has physiologically relevant effects on body composition, physical performance, insulin sensitivity or quality of life.

Article Abstract:

The number of children who fracture their lower arm has increased 32% in boys and 56% in girls since 1970. The reasons for this increase are not clear, but may involve changes in physical activity or diet. The greatest increase occurred in boys 11 to 14 years old and girls 8 to 11 years old.
