Despite hype, not all statins are the same, experts say

Article Abstract:

Clinical data has confirmed that although statins prevent heart attacks, all statins are not the same as they differ in their efficacy and produce a range of effects-both good and bad-beyond cholesterol reduction. As a result, topping the list of ill effects caused by statins is rhabdomyolysis, a potentially fatal form of muscle toxicity that seems to occur more frequently with the newer, more powerful drugs.
