Disparity of serum transferrin receptor measurements among different assay methods

Article Abstract:

Iron deficiency anemia is a commonplace health problem and is identified by blood assays. A new study examines the differences in the measurement of concentrations of transferrin receptor (TfR) between three assay methods. The study of the Ramco Human TfR Assay Kit, the Quantikine Human TfR Immunoassay and lab assays shows that both commercial methods distinguished between normal and elevated serum samples but that there were poor measurement agreements. It is recommended that commercial assay kits should be standardized.
