Don't be a fool: Use the right tool

Article Abstract:

Common household tools are dangerous when used improperly. Many injuries result from using too-small screwdrivers or a dull saw when doing home repairs or indulging in do-it-yourself projects. Power tools, whether cordless or otherwise, are especially prone to misuse. Hidden electrical wiring and water pipes will make the possibility of electrocution that much closer. An ungrounded outlet, or too much pressure on the handle may result in a loss of a body part. Alertness can avert many a catastrophe, but stress will make the odds of pain a little greater.

3-step ergonomics program keeps the workplace on its toes

Article Abstract:

Ergonomics is the science of discovering the most efficient way of doing work. It's place in business is manifested in the workplace, which includes machinery, work organization, workers and management. The implementation of a successful ergonomics program will depend on how well employees are trained, how feasible goals and changes are designed, and how open communication channels are between work groups, particularly between management and production. Improvements may then proceed based on the coordination of these three steps.
