Dousing the flames

Article Abstract:

The high level of skill needed to be a burns care nurse reflects the difficult nature of a job which requires committment, empathy and technical knowledge. Up to 800 people die each year in the UK from burns-related injuries, while up to 13,000 people require hospital treatment for injuries. Burns can be caused by the sun, electricity, fire, hot fluids and smoke inhalation. All require varying types of treatment although the role of a burns care nurse is one of providing the best possible care of the individual.
