Effect of Calcium Carbonate on the Absorption of Levothyroxine

Article Abstract:

Calcium carbonate may interfere with the absorption of levothyroxine. Levothyroxine is used to treat patients with thyroid cancer and low thyroid hormone levels. Researchers asked 20 patients who were taking levothyroxine for low thyroid levels to begin taking calcium carbonate supplements for three months. All had normal thyroid hormone levels at the start of the study. Calcium carbonate caused thyroid hormone levels to decrease. This means that calcium carbonate blocks the absorption of levothyroxine.

Preventing foot ulcers in patients with diabetes

Article Abstract:

A study is conducted to systematically review the evidence on the efficacy of methods advocated for preventing diabetic foot ulcers in the primary care setting. Prevention of diabetic foot ulcers starts with screening for loss of protective sensation, which is accomplished in the primary care setting with a brief history and the Semmes-Weinstein monofilament.

Inhibitors of ocular neovascularization: Promises and potential problems

Article Abstract:

Vision loss caused by ocular neovascularization in diabetic retinopathy and exudative age-related macular degeneration (ARMD) can be prevented by using molecular medicines. Details about various researches carried out in the angiogenesis and discussions regarding vascular endothelial growth factor are discussed.
