Arterial Hypertension and Renal Allograft Survival

Article Abstract:

Kidney transplant recipients who have high blood pressure may have a higher risk of graft rejection. This was the conclusion of researchers who analyzed the risk factors for graft failure in 277 kidney transplant recipients. People of color and those with non-diabetic kidney disease were more likely to reject the kidney. Also, the risk of rejection increased 15%-30% for every 10 mm increase in blood pressure.

Effect of the use or nonuse of long-term dialysis on the subsequent survival of renal transplants from living donors

Article Abstract:

The effectiveness of a kidney transplant from a living donor can be improved if the patient has not received dialysis. In a study of 8,481 patients, those who did not receive dialysis were more likely to have a functioning transplant even years after the operation.

A comparison of the survival of shipped and locally transplanted cadaveric renal allografts

Article Abstract:

Organ transplant recipients who receive a kidney shipped from another part of the country may have a higher risk of graft failure than those who receive local kidneys. This was the conclusion of researchers who studied the outcome of 10,892 kidney transplants, half of which were local and half of which were shipped from another region of the country.
