Emergent (crash) cesarean delivery: Indications and outcomes

Article Abstract:

A study to define the indications and outcomes of emergent cesarean deliveries is illustrated. The data demonstrates that most emergent cesarean deliveries develop during labor in low-risk women and cannot be anticipated by prelabor factors and the outcomes show that infants are at risk in these clinical situations and suggest that strategies to improve performance in these clinical situations are important.

Operative vaginal delivery and midline episiotomy: A bad combination for the perineum

Article Abstract:

The impact of operative vaginal delivery and midline episiotomy on the risk of severe perineal trauma is assessed. The results have shown that the use of operative vaginal delivery, in combination with midline episiotomy, is associated with a significant increase in the risk of anal sphincter trauma in both primigravid and multigravid women.
