Enlist against tobacco: it's the right thing to do and it's even fun

Article Abstract:

The tobacco industry's secrets concerning nicotine addiction and smoking's health risks are increasingly coming to light. The American Medical Assn's new Physicians for a Tobacco-Free America program is a good way for doctors to participate in the fight against tobacco. Those involved in that fight have learned that, though it can be serious, it can also be fun. An enrollment form is included.

AMA calls for curbs on FTC

Article Abstract:

The American Medical Association (AMA) is urging Congress to remove the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) from regulating the medical profession. The AMA is urging Congress to pass legislation that would clarify that the FTC was never empowered to regulate professional associations or nullify state laws governing the profession.

MDs continue fight to strip FTC's power over professions

Article Abstract:

Physicians from all over the United States are planning their strategy to successfully convince the Congress that the upcoming legislation concerning the Federal Trade Commission's right to regulate medicine would have detrimental effects on medical care. The American Medical Association is also talking to key legislators.
