Epilepsy: the most common serious neurological condition

Article Abstract:

Features associated with epilepsy indicate a necessity for health professionals to spend time with the patient discussing problems and queries. The condition has varied and unpredictable manifestations, psychological and social consequences, and doctors find it difficult to identify a cause. Types of seizure associated with epilepsy include tonic-clonic, atonic, tonic and typical absence. Investigations to aid diagnosis are described, together with drug treatments and procedures for the management of seizures.
