Evaluation of the Look After Your Heart initial tutor training course in East Anglia

Article Abstract:

The success of East Anglia's Initial Tutor Training Course (ITTC) for the Look After Your Heart program was evaluated through questionnaires. The program has been running since 1987 and the study covered the period between January 1988 and April 1991. Examination of the activity level of the qualified tutors running the program in the region showed that tutors educated to degree level and/or those funded by employers are more likely to pass Part 2 of the ITTC. Prior experience in a Look After Yourself class was also a factor in the pass rate.

Development and evaluation of the 'Changing what you eat' resources for primary care

Article Abstract:

Recent research has attempted to assess the effectiveness of nutritional advice given by primary health care (PHC) professionals. It has looked at draft versions of the 'Changing what you eat' booklets, which were developed for use in individual nutrition counselling in the primary health care environment. The reaction from patients and professionals was generally positive, and suggestions for changes to various sections of the booklet were taken into account when the final version was produced.

Problems of evaluation: lessons from a Smokebusters campaign

Article Abstract:

The evaluation of the Grampian Smokebusters Campaign has presented certain difficulties which need to be addressed. Some methodological issues arose, such as assessing who was really a 'member' of Smokebusters and defining ex-smokers. Researchers have also had to consider whether self-selection took place among those who joined the campaign and what influences young people faced form their wider social background.
