Excretion of arsenic in urine as a function of exposure to arsenic in drinking water

Article Abstract:

Concentration of arsenic in the urine has been studied as a biomarker of exposure to arsenic in drinking water. Results suggest that a small number of urine samples may be used to adequately estimate exposure to inorganic arsenic (InAs) in drinking water. In addition, the concentration of InAs in drinking water may be used as a surrogate for estimating exposure.

Arsenic concentrations in well water and risk of bladder and kidney cancer in Finland

Article Abstract:

Research presented attempts to link low levels of arsenic in well water to increased risk of kidney and bladder cancers in Finland. Finns who obtained their water from private wells were studied, and results prove inconclusive for a positive correlation between arsenic concentrations and kidney cancer, but increased bladder cancer risk is suggested.
