Article Abstract:

Policing has always been better paid than nursing in the UK because it has traditionally been seen as a male role. These gender stereotypes are now being eliminated, but police officers' pay is still substantially higher than nurses'.

The National Health Services has pledged to spend 76 million pounds sterling to build workplace child care centers for children of nurses and has supported flexible work hours for parents. Nurses with families discuss their experiences with the National Health Services family-friendly policies.
