Fanconi anemia group C protein prevents apoptosis in hematopietic cells through redox regulation of GSTP1

Article Abstract:

Glutathione S-transferase P1-1, or GSTP1, has been seen to interact with Fanconi anemia group C protein, and when both proteins are overexpressed in a myeloid progenitor cell line, cell death is prevented. This reveals a new mechanism for enzyme regulation during cell death and suggests ways to treat degenerative diseases with thiol reducing agents.

alpha-Synuclein and cytosolic dopamine: stabilizing a bad situation

Article Abstract:

The author analyzes the studies on alpha-synuclein, a mutated protein in some cases of Parkinson disease. The recent findings indicate that alpha-synuclein and cytosolic dopamine interact forming adducts which stabilize toxic intermediate of fibril formation.

Cellular function of the Fanconi anemia pathway

Article Abstract:

The authors discuss the study on Fanconi anemia cells which are sensitive to oxygen. The topics of interest include the role of Fanconi anemia cloning proteins in glutathione S-transferase P1-1 regulation.
