Overexpression of the alpha(1B)-adrenergic receptor causes apoptotic neurodegeneration: multiple system atrophy

Article Abstract:

Research is presented on the role of alpha(1B)-adrenergic receptors within the central nervous system, particularly in diseases such as Shy-Drager syndrome which involve multiple system atrophy. Findings suggest that alpha(1B)-adrenergic receptor signaling directly participates in the pathology; implications are discussed.

Neutralizing antibodies take a swipe at HIV in vivo

Article Abstract:

Neutralizing antibodies provide a defense against many pathogens and are highly important for HIV-1 vaccines. These antibodies and the conserved epitopes are of considerable interest for passive immunotherapy and for new vaccine immunogens, which aim to elicit an effective neutralizing antibody response.
