Finding cooperation in Colorado

Article Abstract:

The collaboration between the Colorado HMO Assn and the Colorado Medical Society provides a useful model for other HMO associations and state medical societies. The collaboration has softened sparring that normally takes place between the two groups in the public arena by opening up a channel of negotiation. The two groups released a 'White Paper on Physician Affiliation/Disaffiliation' as well as recommendations for the transition to managed care for patients with special needs and circumstances.

Florida doctors: managed care should pay up or pay interest

Article Abstract:

Florida physicians are angry with the poor reimbursement record of San Mateo, CA-based Vivra Specialty Partners. This managed care network has specialists in 13 fields. Vivra's payment record is worse than the payment record of many health maintenance organizations. Interest fees may be placed by the Florida Medical Assn on these late reimbursements but the state law must first be investigated.
