Lipoprotein metabolism, cellular model and dietary fibre

Article Abstract:

A study of plasma lipids, lipoproteins and apoproteins in 21 hypercholesterolaemic children revealed that the fluidity of lipoproteins plays an important role in influencing lipid exchange reactions between different lipoproteins and receptor-mediated interactions in lipoproteins and cell membranes in their metabolic functions. The importance of a therapeutic intervention based on a balanced diet is reflected. The early changes in lipoprotein composition and fluidity of hypercholesterolaemic children are discussed.

Influence of thermal processes on dietary fibre: a study on turnip (Brassica napus)

Article Abstract:

A study of the dietary fiber content of turnip before and after autoclaving reveals that glucose is the main ingredient of the turnips. Xylose, galactose and rhamose are present in the turnips in nearly same proportions, whereas mannose has the least concentration of all the components. Insoluble fiber content is same for the raw and the cooked turnips. A loss in soluble fiber content is observed after processing.
